Journalism

Whoot Whoot, I am out of here!!! Ok, really, I don't think I will be so excited of graduating; it will hit me like December 20th that I will no longer be part of such a great journalism team. I have learned so much over the years I have been in CBU's banner and angelos. For example, I learned how blogs are in. Really, blogs are providing many writers with a little extra cash... (anyone may pay me for this blog - I approve this blog). Also, I learned about how online articles are also something that are becoming a very popular form to publish. What I think I will probably pursue is blogging and freelance writing. It seemed every day there was something new to learn. I remeber how we are to keep in mind the way our stories will be published... for example, in broadcast, I remember that we are to say facts clearly knowing that the listener is not able to hear what we just said twice (when a reader is reading an article they can always go back and reread if they missed something). Even today, last day in Banner I learned something, that the lead may be spelled leed as well. Wow! I thank God for allowing me to learn so much. I feel so comfortable with journalism. What is more exciting is that this is what I learned in one single class... I have felt more of a well rounded student now. Thanks for all the help to everyone who has helped me in the way.

The difference between "compassion and consuption"

Today in chapel. Advent Conspiracy. Watch and Read on.

"Definitions of advent on the Web:

* arrival that has been awaited (especially of something momentous); "the advent of the computer"
* the season including the four Sundays preceding Christmas
* Second Coming: (Christian theology) the reappearance of Jesus as judge for the Last Judgment"

"Definitions of conspiracy on the Web:

* a secret agreement between two or more people to perform an unlawful act
* a plot to carry out some harmful or illegal act (especially a political plot)
* a group of conspirators banded together to achieve some harmful or illegal purpose"

ARE YOU IN???

This is what many on this Earth have been waiting for. COMPASSION. Is this a threat, challenge or a dare?
I will later add the perspectives on Herod's kingdom vs Jesus' kingdom.
But I will leave you with this for now. Give and if you can't, figure and pray for a way to encourage others to do so.

have you noticed the need

Many people are out and about. They have lost their homes and maybe more. They are homeless and most times hopeless. Think, Thank, and Give. Think: How blessed you are if you are even reading this online. Thank: God for all your blessings and Give: just do so.

I met two

I thank God that I met two gentlemen. No, I did not do my best to look great (I don't even know that I was quite visible since it was dark outside), (i had never met them), and they offered the comfort of a room for the outside's cold. Awwww. I thank God there are still gentlemen out there. I did not even get to know their names but it gives me hope that there are some out there.

Good Morning Live

"Wake up Jimmy, its time to get up," mommy said.
"Good morning Mr. Sosa," Mrs. Sosa said.
"Good morning Jen," mom said.
"Good morning Mr. President," Mrs. Obama said.

This morning, kids woke up to go to school. My newly wed friend prepared lunch for her husband. Today, another teen held back from her parents love as a any other teen does. All this while Barack Obama woke up as the new president of the United States of America.

In other words... It seems that North America has made their voice heard. Yesterday, election day 2008, an unpresedented number of individuals voted for a new president and for or against certain propositions. The results: Barack Obama is to be our next president of the USA. As far as it seems, marriage is still valued as a male and female commitment, not a same sex decision. Teens will most likely make decisions that affect and effect others... in the matter of life and death, teens will have to make up their mind in regards to keeping a pregnancy or not; with or without the permission and the knowledge of this decision making from their parents.

While it is now know that Obama will be the new president. The ongoing count of ballots seems to bring out what we value in North America. It seems that proposition 8 will win pro having marriage being represented by a male and female union. Propositon 4 might pass allowing teens not to have to obtain permission from their parents before undergoing an abortion. While abortion will most likely be allowed, Proposition 2, will defend the life of animals.

Well, "I will continually hope," as the Word says. Hope for the best in this Change. But I know who is in control and I trust Him to have the best for me.

PS: I heard that while the votes are still coming in for Yes on 8, not even determined as a success, already some are questioning the validity of it being a (possible) success. Should I mention, this proposition had been a success before and out of the blue it was added into this ballot again to be re-regarded by the citizens of North America. Democracy....really?

Amero or not?

I had not heard about this. I can only encourage you to do your own research. Pray. However, remember, that God is in control and everything works for the good of those who love God. I leave two videos, one by Hal Turner the one that says it will happen. While the second one is against Turner's claim. I am in no way suggesting Turner is right because he mentions Jesus Christ at the end of his video... I actually started to write this blog before even finishing Turner's video. When I heard at the end of his video, him mentioning Jesus Christ, I edited my blog to let you know that I am not suggesting anything. I myself are still to pray and research to make up my mind in regards to all of this.

Midterm

http://greattakes.blogspot.com/

http://nathanlawrensonphotography.blogspot.com/

http://blog.epicedits.com/2007/11/07/87-great-photography-blogs-and-feeds/

I am currently taking a course of photojournalism. I have learned the rule of thirds, about lighting, moments, environmental pictures, and we are moving into covering sports. I remember always enjoying taking pictures. I always take ownership of my sisters' camera...sorry, but not really. I used to look through the view finder and SNAP, take a picture. Now, I know better. It takes time, and sometimes patience, but when you see the results of applying practices learned you may even surprise yourself sometimes. I still have a long way to go in photography. However, God has provided the courses, not only the one I am taking right now, but one I had in High School, where I learned to develop photographs, and in the future, I know God has a plan for all the education He provides. At the very least, for me to get lost in awe of His small display of His enormous glory here on Earth through my small eyes. I chose these three blog websites because I love how they capture the present, love, and all of the above. Really, I like to take pictures that will give me something to look at in my future that reveals the importance of the past. Not vacation pictures; you know what I mean, the one with aunt Lola, you and your cousin standing awkwardly in front of a restaurant’s name very quick to shoot because the other tourists are heading to the same spot to take a picture. If you get lucky you will not have another person’s arm at one of the corners of your photograph. That just drives me insane! In other words, I like memories engraved in photographs. I have not been able to do this myself, but I hope that with a little more time in this course I will be able to capture stories. I want to tell stories of individuals, families, events, through photography. I see the importance of photographers and writers working together. This will come in handy when I work for a magazine or newspaper, God willing. I had my share of being a backpack journalist this summer at my internship at La Prensa. It is as God states in His Word, we all have different gifts, but they are all valuable. We all need our companions’ gifts and they need ours. So share and value each others’ gifts. While surfing the web, I found greattakes, which is a young man's website of photography. He says "In a nutshell...I love people, romance, emotion, making people smile and laughter. I hope you are able to see into the heart of what I do as you "blog" with me!" Awwww, as a female its impossible to resist... yet, I did look and critiqued some of his photographs to make sure he did do what he said he likes to do and capture. He does. The next blog website is from an older gentleman, who also displays family, love and one of the finest settings ever, (yes I am biased), the beach. I enjoy the beach so much. In his website he not only shares his photography but lists suggestions on what is best to take such photos and he also shares both what he has learned and his family. I think that if I was a professional photographer I would have the overstated phrase of "Live, Love, Laugh" as a motto. Now the last blog website was really neat, not only because of the type of pictures and composition that this photographer has on sale (beach oriented), but also because of the extensive list of photography blog websites that are out there for the viewing. Wow! Too much fun, so little time.

My Now

How much longer will I wait
for Your answer in display.

I have put my eyes on things,
I have set my eyes on others,
But You got my attention
in the still, quiet of my heart.

I cry, You answer.
I struggle, You bring peace.

My flesh desires and longs,
I rush yet suppress my drives,
But You are patient
and Your love is everlasting.

the difference between a gentleman and a hoax

So this is not a professional blog but it is something that I have been experiencing. I want to say one thing: "A GENTLEMAN IS A GENTLEMAN AT ALL TIMES AND WITH ALL PEOPLE". What do I mean? No, a gentleman is not the one who pulls open your door, gives you a wave like if you were royalty, or pulls your chair ... when you loose weight, dress up, wear make up, or are his girlfriend. A gentleman does this and more for you even if he looked at you in your pajamas, no makeup, and however your hair looks when you wake up and did not know you. Not only this, but he treats everyone the same at all times. Christ is a gentleman at all times with everyone. So, I challenge guys to change for the best, and girls notice the difference and choose the best.

Ford's Sync

It is here. The new Sync. No, not another boy band but a real toy for all. The Ford company has come up with an all-in-one voice command system. It is being installed for the low price of around $400. With negative stories drowning the ears of Ford's leaders, this new innovated and practical gadget hits the market to overwrite good for bad. The Sync is a voice commanded computer that is installed in a vehicle for the new-and-improved, multitasking, and practical consumer. It is with this very contemporary, silver-looking gadget that many Ford customers are now safely enjoying more entertainment, communication, and even a sense of direction. Sync allows the customer to register their cellphone for the convenience of, now a days, not getting a ticket for talking on the phone while driving. However, this would not only allow you to speak with both hands on the wheel but it will also, using your voice as command, allow you to listen to text messages. Now, for those who are taking long road trips, sometimes what sets the mood is the music and entertainment. With Sync, one is able to listen to the mp3 music in our cellphones or iPods. If music is not enough for the sport's fanatic, Sync offers them the ability to stay updated with the up and downs of ones favorite teams. In addition, Sync users are able to watch a DVD, anytime their vehicle is parked...for safety reasons. For the consumers who are really bad with directions, Sync offers a navigation system to find ones way to our preferred destination. From now on it will be out with the NSync and in with the Sync. Don't miss out.

A matter of the heart

So when I was putting my computer away last time I wrote in my blog, I overheard some news that I was just too tired to write about that same night. So, I will comment on this now. I heard that a young lady is selling her virginity on ebay! Seriously! There are various reasons why I was so conserned when I heard this. One, what have we as a society made of values? Do we determine success with money and a career or family and health? A little off track, a president (running our nation) being payed less than a celebrity!!! And this young lady, who wants to pay off her loans to move to her masters, has she no other option to accomplish her goals? Another concern of mine is for the young lady herself. Does she know how worthy she is? Not because of her virginity (which I give her credit for now a days that is rare), but because of who she is. She is obviously smart...moving to her masters! She is made in the image of God, like we all are. I think she has not reflected on her worth. The third reason why I am so concerned with these news is because if the authority is enforcing the control of prostitution on the streets, what is the difference with doing this in the streets and doing it thru the internet? Once again, where are our values and ethics? Where is our heart? I would, if I could, pay her the biggest bid so that she would keep her virginity. For as you should know, when you have intercourse with another person, you become one with the other person. So, if she sells herself to a guy who does not value her, or himself, or even the act of love, then... that says much about what she will end up being.

the need and freedom to express myself

So I need to just simply write everything that has stirred me lately.

1. When I heard a republican or democrat say "everyone goes thru troubles" (or something similar) in regards to the disaster that the hurricanes had caused in cuba or somewhere. The news reported on how these politicians were having great parties at night. No, not only a one night gathering, or even a ball, it was parties. Full blown out, drinking, rich women, smoking, dancin, rich men, having fun (I believe in night clubs). Ahhhhhhh! he made me soooooo angry mad. I cannot someone could say this with no regrets. Or maybe he did regret it, hopefully, when he woke up probably with a hang over. We speak about how we are so priviledged and blessed here in the United States, and some of us feel even the need and drive to help others; however, this man, did not find compassion in his heart for those who might have lost not only material things, a home, but even a family member. Ahhhhh! I am sooo upset.

2. Diplomatic Immunity!!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhh! Ok so, if you don't do anything wrong you should not be afraid of any law. This immunity allows diplomats to not be charged with any criminal acts. Does not sound to bad right? It was created to protect diplomats from a bad reputation from people making up stories about them. So, all of the information here, except for my biased feelings, opinions, etc. I watched it yesterday on 20/20. During the programming, at least three women spoke out about how they were mistreated, enslaved, by their owners. They would clean their mansions, and these women said that they would get paid a very small amount of money, their passports were taken away and therefore they could not leave. This is our world. Emancipation Proclamation? REALLY? Where? For how long? Because these individuals are obviously in the 21st century living without it.

3. Ok, so please somebody tell me what happens when something blows up? what happens when something explodes? I do not think that you need much time to tell me the results. Explosions = Destruction and brokeness. So when I watched the news and the particular story covering the possibility to prove true the big bang THEORY in regard to atoms coming together and creating living creatures... including you and I... I was disturbed. My heart felt low, and even little doubts shot thru. However, God tells us not to forget about logic ( Proverbs 3:21 My child, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight); and well, like I and you know, explosions do not create - they destroy. Another thing to think about, if there was an explosion, and the perfect environment was there for life to occur, then we obviously need that environment to continue living, right? Well if we have the same environment, because we are obviously living, then, can someone tell me why living creatures are not generated with every explosion that we have had on Earth. Can you imagine = explosions creating life? I don't think so, no, I know so, this theory is a LIE.

4. I pray that God blesses everyone, that He may heal the broken hearted, and may they take the opportunity to seek His help. In rememberence of all the courageous men and women who fougth to save many others while they themselves knew that they would probably not make it out safe. May God bless the children, mates, families, and friends of these remembered and highly appreciated courageous people. As well, thanks to the women and men who are truly fighting for our freedom, I appreciate it, I could not do it, thank you all for your sacrifice.

Kickoff

Today Pastor Rick Warren spoke about transformation during chapel. Why are we here on Earth? The answer(s) will be sought in a forty day study-and-apply commitment. Whomever decides to take the challenge will join a small group. In these groups, the members will read over a provided book/manual that has been written specially for college/university students. After reading and discussing what was read, the biggest challenge will be applying what was learned. Warren explained that during 40 days, one develops a habit...either a bad or good habit. I am currently working on some of my own bad habits, which include: patience, being on time, and being prepared. I think it will take a little more than 40 days for me, but I am determined to work at it. PS: What is your purpose in life? "you are not going to find the answer by looking inside of you or looking to philosophy [or even science], think about it this way, if I held a new invention that I created but you were wondering what it was for, you could either guess what it is for, or simply ask me... the inventor. The same is with us as human beings, if you don't know the purpose for your life, ask your Creator," said Warren. Ask God. Remember what God said "seek and you will find".
